I set too bloody high a standard for myself when it comes to this posting business. Every few days for the last age since I wrote here I've thought to myself about all the cool things I could write about, but I've proceeded to talk myself out of it either by being busy or lazy. And, well, that pretty much covers it, I guess. Here's installment one of the new, concise format.
Doesn't everybody wonder?
Where Rockefeller Center's Tree Ends Up
I'm a sucker for overpriced, oddly fashionable clothing. Not that I would
ever actually buy a $150 jacket. But it's 'anatomically correct' and made of 'innovative three-layer fabric'.

New York has the largest subterranean steam system in the world. I mean, it's huge. And it has a
cute little maintenance robot!
Steampunk Lives
Oh, Science has more than
13 things to explain...
13 things that do not make sense
Well, we do joke about it all the time... I guess I always thought that
US Plans To Invade Canada were more fiction than fact. Jealousy, clearly, is and was the primary motivation for our silly military. The US wants mounties but no, they get nukes instead of horsies. What a mess.
Really, really awesome. A video camera with two onboard Mac Minis. Shit...
Stereoscopic High-Def Videocam
What did I say about overpriced clothing made from fancy materials with oddly fashionable design?
Oh, Brazil.
Coffee industry, meet your Segway. It thinks it's
the revolution and cries itself to sleep everynight wondering why nobody loves it.
The Aerobie
Ah, Jim Kunstler. He writes very coherently and passionately about the 'hallucinatory nature of our economy' and I love it. I don't believe everything he writes or agree with him about everything, but I like how he expresses his viewpoint. Kinda like my Economics professor, he's a little overzealous, but likes what he does.
At Peak
Lately I've been just saving pictures of the cool things I find, so here they are, sans context.
-- now updated so that the pictures link to more information about the stuff --

Ambient heat from wall art. Beacuse that art on the wall is also a heater. Beautiful.

I'm going to make cool things like this out of the flourescent tubes I'm gathering from dumpsters downtown. But I guarantee that Castor Canadensis is making more money off of the idea.

Yes, I believe that's my car you're sitting in.

I want this watch, I think, at some point in my life. I like it a great deal, though perhaps I should purchase some later iteration of the concept.
